(MITCHELL) - The Class of 2014 in Mitchell will still graduate on May 23, but they will have to return to school the following day.
Mitchell High School Principal Sean Vandeventer says inclement weather has resulted in enough school cancellations to force the end of school into the week of Memorial Day. If no additional cancellations occur, the last day of school will be May 27.
The Indiana Department of Education is discussing other ways school corporation can make up missed days, including Saturday sessions, virtual school and adding hours to the regular school day, which some school corporations have already done.
