(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police are investigating a murder-suicide at Meadowood Retirement Community.
Police were called to the facility after a 911 call was placed at 11:40 a.m. reporting the shooting. The facility is located at North Tamarack Trail, north of Indiana University. .
According to a Bloomington Police news released, when officers arrived they found a dead 76-year-old female and a dead 77-year-old male in one of the rooms.
Both had been shot.
Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives believe that the female victim was shot and killed by the male, who then took his own life.
The case is still under investigation; the names of the deceased are being withheld until family members can be notified.
