(BLOOMINGTON) - One woman was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle accident, on Ind. 46 near Kent Road in eastern Monroe County Wednesday morning.
Monroe County Coroner Nicole Meyer, pronounced Rachel Bjorklund, 29, of Bloomington, dead at the scene.
According to Monroe County Police, Bjorklund was traveling west on Ind. 46, just before 7:30 a.m. when she lost control of her Toyota Yaris after hittinga patch ice on the roadway. The car vehicle slid into the westbound lane of traffic into the path of a 2011 Honda Fit, driven by 50-year-old Laura Van-Vleet, of Columbus.
The Honda collided struck the Toyota at its front passenger side and pushed the car into a guardrail.
Van-Vleet was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital with minor injuries where she was treated and released.
The highway was closed for several hours as county and state police investigated the fatal crash.
