(ELLETTSVILLE) - A head-on collision on State Road 46 left one man dead and four others injured Saturday morning.
According to a Monroe County Police report, 23-year-old Usamah Zakir was traveling east from on State Road 46 from Urbana, Ill., when his car struck a westbound car driving by 21-year-old Ashley Smith near Flatwoods Road on the outskirts of Ellettsville.
21-year-old Ethan Farley, a passenger in Smith's car, was thrown through the windshield and died from his injuries.
Police say that both Farley and Roslan were not wearing seat belts during the incident.
Smith suffered leg injuries and was taken to Indianapolis Methodist Hospital.
Zakir was taken to the IU-Bloomington Hospital with a possible rib injury.
21-year-old Mohammad Solhuddin, a passenger in Zakir's vehicle, suffered a cut to his right leg. And 20-year-old Muhammad Roslan, also a passenger in Zakir's vehicle, was taken to Methodist Hospital with possible internal injuries where he is listed in critical condition.
Indiana State Police are assisting the Sheriff's department in the ongoing investigation.
