(SALEM) - The Salem City Council has approved an ordinance to establish a Planned Development District on the 27-acre site on the east side of Salem where the new Walmart will be located.
The ordinance was requested by Cedarwood Development, the company developing the site.
The ordinance will delegate the plan commission to make modifications and have final approval of any changes in the new district.
Plans currently call for eight lots with two entrances off Hackberry Street and two off Kimball Boulevard. The primary lot, where Walmart will be located will be off East Hackberry Street.
The ordinance will also allow retail, restaurant, professional and business office and a gas station to be established.
Terry McNeely, president of the Salem Plan Commission, expects Cedarwood Development to have a final plan ready for the commission to review at its next meeting, Feb. 25.
