(BEDFORD) - Twice in the last six months, a secured locked box used for holding lab specimens at Bedford Veterinary Medical Centre on Oolitic Road has been damaged by thieves, looking for drugs or money.
Officials warn the items in the outside lock box are biohazard materials, or specimens like blood samples and should not be tampered with.
The specimens are placed in the locked box so a courier can pick them up for testing at an Indianapolis medical lab.
The veterinarians says tampering with the sample or tampering with them delays needed treatment to possible sick pets and could prove fatal for some of the animals.
Some of the samples could also prove harmful to humans.
Anyone with information about who is breaking into the lock box is asked to call police or the Bedford Veterinary Medical Centre.
