(BEDFORD) - One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash on 16th Street Tuesday afternoon.
According to a Bedford Police report, 17-year-old Justin Kelley was traveling west on 16th Street and was in the turn lane to turn south on I Street when a 2002 Mazda Familia pulled away from the Circle K station into the path of Kelley's 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix.
19-year-old Dalton Cooper, who was driving the Mazda, told police westbound traffic was backed up on 16th Street and he was wanting to turn east onto 16th Street when a westbound driver waived Cooper around traffic. Cooper, who trusted the other driver, did not see Kelley's vehicle.
Witnesses at the scene told police that Kelley was speeding and had been driving in the turn lane on 16th Street for more than a block because of the backed up traffic.
Kelley and Cooper were not injured, but a passenger in Kelley's vehicle 17-year-old Austin Ester complained of head pain.
