(FREDERICKSBURG) - Two men were arrested after a witnesses told police they saw the men set a vehicle on fire outside of Fredericksburg on January 20.
The Salem Leader Democrat reports that a witness told Washington County Police they saw two men set the car on fire and then run into the woods. Another witness, told police that they had followed a silver SUV being driven on bare tire rims on Valen Pike near Hardinsburg and had followed the vehicle to Nesmith Road where he saw the men exit the SUV and get into another vehicle.
A short time later, police found 49-year-old Tom Wilson, of Palmyra. Police says they found Wilson had stolen jewelry and credit cards. His accomplice, 30-year-old Jeremy Henley, of Palmyra was also arrested.
Wilson was arrested on felony charges of arson, aiding and inducing or causing arson, theft and receiving stolen auto parts and a misdemeanor charge of resisting law enforcement.
Henley was charged with arson.
Because of this arrest, police went to Crawford county were they found a vehicle and trailer registered to a friend of Wilson's abandoned near a home that had been burglarized. Officers were able to recover a television, air compressor and stereo equipment.
Police says because of these arrests, numerous theft and burglary cases are being solved and additional charges and arrests are pending.
