(BEDFORD) - Roger D. Hardin, who was charged Wednesday in connection with a scheme that bilked the city of Bloomington out of more than $800,000, was released from prison in September after serving two years on convictions of burglary and possession of meth, cocaine and marijuana.
He was ordered to finish the last of his sentence on house arrest.
According to Lawrence County Superior II Court records, Lawrence Superior Court Judge Michael Robbins gave Hardin a break in 2003 when he sentenced him to a 10-year prison term for two home burglaries.
The judge put Hardin on house arrest for six years, allowing him to leave his home to go to work. The last four years of the sentence were to be served on probation.
While on probation, the Lawrence County Probation Department received a tip in October 2010 of possible drug activity at Hardin's home.
Probation officers made a home visit and discovered drug paraphernalia. They then secured a search warrant and went back to the home and found seven grams of meth, three grams of cocaine and 35 grams of marijuana.
In November 2011, Hardin accepted a plea agreement on felony charges of possession of meth, cocaine, and marijuana.
