(BEDFORD) - Bedford Parks Director Mike Mitchell says the parks are gearing up for summer.
Crews are working to remove the old playground equipment near the Otis Park's soccer complex and will then prepare the area for some new equipment.
Tony Brazzell of the Orbit Soccer League has offered old telephone poles that can be used for the parking areas at the complex.
New picnic tables and benches have been installed at Otis and also at Murray Forest and Edgewood Parks.
The basketball backboards have been replaced and the hoop courts at Edgewood would be resealed as well as the basketball and tennis courts at Thornton.
Mitchell also is accepting reservations for plots in the community garden, an 8.8 acre area on 24th Street east of Mitchell Road. Last year 37 gardeners took advantage of the opportunity to grow crops. Mitchell said additional space is available if necessary.
