Bloomington Mayor Plans To Recoup Money Stolen From City

Last updated on Monday, March 17, 2014

(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington Mayor Mark Kruzan says he plans to do everything possible to assist in the prosecution of three men who allegedly embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from the city.

U.S. Attorney Joseph Hogsett charged Justin Wykoff, Bloomington's former project engineer and Roger and Zachary Hardin, owners of Reliable Concrete and Construction, with embezzlement and conspiracy to commit a federal crime.

The crimes occurred for three years from May 2011 until February 2014.

Mayor Kruzan learned about the crimes on Feb. 19 and immediately contacted the Bloomington Police Department. He says he could not comment on the case, but his intent is to recoup the funds that were misused and stolen.

He has also asked the State Board of Accounts to audit the Department of Public Works.
