(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington woman was arrested Monday for breaking into a preschool on South Park Avenue in Bloomington and stealing clothes, food and electronics.
When police arrived at Head Start preschool at 1790 S. Park Ave. the front door was standing open.
According to Bloomington Police Department Lt. Steve Kellams, witnesses reported a man and woman were inside and had fled to a home just down the street.
Police, armed with a search warrant, went to a home of 21-year-old Oleva Kendall.and found close to $2,000 worth of stolen items inside the home. Other stolen items were found stacked on a porch. Police returned the stolen items to the school.
Police also found drugs and drug paraphernalia in the home sitting in plain sight. Kendall told police the drug items were not hers.
Kendall told police she and a friend had broke into the preschool through an unlocked window.
Police are still looking for Kendall's accomplice.
Kendall was arrested and is facing felony charges of burglary, theft,and maintaining a common nuisance. She is being held without bond because of a prior pending theft case after she attempted to steal nearly $300 worth of merchandise from WalMart in January.
She is also wanted on a probation violation after she failed to report to her probation officer.
