(NASHVILLE) - A hearing before the Brown County Sheriffs Merit Board will determine whether or not a longtime deputy will keep his job.
Sheriff Rick Followell is recommending that Deputy Bill Southerland be fired.
The board will act as a jury would, hearing the case from both sides and rendering a decision on Wednesday, April 9 beginning at 9 a.m.
Southerland has been suspended with pay after the sheriff received a complaint from a citizen on December 31, 2013.
Details of that complaint are not available. Deputy Southerland is on administrative leave with pay until the conclusion of the merit board.
