(BROWNSTOWN) - A Jackson County resident was seriously injured in a one vehicle crash Tuesday night after police say he fell asleep at the wheel.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Department says 67-year-old Daniel Otte of Brownstown was traveling west on U.S. 50 when he dozed off.
Investigators say Otte's pickup truck struck a culvert, then rolled in to a ditch on the south side of the road.
Otte was extracted from his vehicle by the Brownstown Volunteer Fire Departmentand transported to Schneck Medical Center.
Investigators said his injuries are considered life threatening.
