(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of 27-year-old Jerid Bennett of Paoli who had been found guilty of drug charges.
Orange County Prosecutor Kelly Minton reported the court's published decision was handed down Tuesday.
Bennett was convicted by an Orange Circuit jury in April 2013 on felony charges of dealing cocaine; possession of cocaine and maintaining a common nuisance and a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana. A jury found Bennett guilty of the crimes in December 2011.
The Court of Appeals ruled that Special Judge Frank Newkirk correctly admitted evidence seized through a search warrant and in admitting text messages from Bennett's phone.
