(GREENE CO.) - The freeze and thaw process is already playing some havoc on Greene County rural roads so the commissioners have placed a weight limit on the roadways.
According to Highway Superintendent Brent Murray, - both paved and gravel - are being cracked and potholes are popping up in large numbers.
In an effort to preserve the already damaged roadways, the commissioner authorized a 10-ton weight limit on all county-maintained roadways. Which means semi-trucks should not be traveling on the county roads.
The weight restriction will have no impact on state roads or Interstate 69.
Murray said the weight limitation will be effective until the April meeting of the county commissioners. At that time, the road conditions will be evaluated.
