(JASONVILLE) - 44-year-old Gregory Roach of Jasonville was arrested Thursday after allegedly battering a woman in front of two young girls.
The woman told Jasonville Police she had been having problems with Roach because of his drinking problem, and that he had become upset with her for talking on her cell phone.
She alleges Roach took her phone away and that when she tried to get it back Roach grabbed her by the throat and chest, leaving a red mark.
She told police she struggled to get her phone back in order to call 911, but that Roach refused to give it back.
Police says items were broken and knocked over in the house. Police also determined that Roach had been drinking peppermint before the fight.
Roach denied hitting the woman but claimed she had slapped him. But police found on marks on Roach.
Roach has a criminal record three previous domestic battery arrests. Roach was arrested and is facing charges of domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 or with a prior conviction and interfering with the reporting of a crime.
