(BEDFORD) - The Lawrence County Commissioners have scheduled a Certificate Sale on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 10 a.m. in the Courthouse lobby.
Scheduled for sale are 68 properties that did not receive bids at the 2013 Tax Sale.
The minimum bid for all properties has been set at $1.00.
The properties up for sale include a wide variety of opportunities. There are properties as small as a fraction of an acre and as large as two acres, properties with and without a home and even the former Huron School property.
"It's somewhat different than a traditional tax sale," says County Treasurer Paula Stewart "Instead of paying the outstanding back taxes, the parcels are all being started at $1.00. Our hope is this spurs friendly competition for the choicer parcels and encourages bidders to purchase those that are less desirable. The back taxes are completely wiped out; they do not have to be paid."
Stewart advises interested parties consult a professional prior to bidding in a Commissioner's Certificate Sale. SRI, Incorporated will conduct the sale on behalf of Lawrence County and offers information at their website www.sri-taxsale.com.
