(BEDFORD) - The Commissioners have issued an Orange Travel Alert. Monroe, Brown and Jackson counties are also under an Orange Travel Advisory.
According to Valerie Luchauer, of Emergency Management, a Orange travel advisory means conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. During a "watch" local travel advisory, only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended, and emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.
The Lawrence County Highway will have a truck per each district and one at the county complex to respond to emergencies. There will be a full call out of trucks once the snow that is forecast later today ends or officials deem it is safe for drivers.
"Elected officials ask that you use your own judgment on whether to travel and if you must use caution and all allow yourself plenty of time," Luchauer says.
