Man Arrested After Causing Disturbance At Worthington Home

Last updated on Wednesday, March 12, 2014

(WORTHINGTON) - A 25-year-old Worthington man was arrested early last Saturday morning after allegedly forcing his way into a home and battering one of the residents.

According to Worthington police, a woman told police she had been drinking with Gary Coffman and he became intoxicated and his behavior was becoming a problem so she escorted him out the front door.

Coffman refused to leave and was yelling and cursing and forced open the door and grabbed the woman.

The woman then fought back hitting Coffman in the face to get him off of her and after punching him several times he let her go and she was able to close the door leaving Coffman outside.

Coffman allegedly then broke the gate off of her porch railing. When police arrived they found Coffman's broken cell phone and his shoe.

Coffman was found at another home in Worthington where he was drinking and did not want to cooperate with police. Coffman denied being involved in the fight, but did admit to being at the home. Officers located Coffman's shoe that matched the one at the crime scene.

Coffman was arrested on felony charges of battery, residential entry and criminal mischief.
