(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he crashed his vehicle into a utility pole and then left the scene Friday night.
According to a Bedford Police report, 44-year-old James George who was driving a 1999 F.250 Ford crashed into a utility pole at Fifth and I streets, got out of his vehicle looked at the damage then got back into his truck and drove away.
A witness at the scene took down George's license plate number and gave a description of George to police.
Police went to George's home in the 200 block of Riley Boulevard and located the truck and George.
He told police he had been driving the vehicle and that his dog in the back of the truck had distracted him and that caused him to crash into the utility pole.
George also told police that he had been drinking before the accident.
George was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and cited for leaving the scene of an accident.
