(JASONVILLE) - Jerry Wasnidge of Jasonville was arrested Thursday after being accused of accepting and keeping nearly $6,000 for a home improvement job he never started.
The Greene County Daily World reports that in November of last year, the owner of the property told police he gave 40-year-old Wasnidge a check to purchase the garage kit and cash to begin laying blocks. He says Wasnidge claimed he would begin construction once the weather improved. The owner contacted Wasnidge several times throughout the year and he always had an excuse on why he couldn't start construction.
According to a probable cause affidavit, police contacted Wasnidge to set up an appointment for him to come to the station and talk about the case. Wasnidge didn't show. He later told police he was sick. A second appointment was made and again Wasnidge didn't show.
A warrant was issued for his arrest charging Wasnidge with theft, and home improvement fraud.
