(JACKSON CO.) - Two of the state’s smallest school corporations are in Jackson County, and neither is considering consolidation with larger districts.
Enrollment stood at 244 students at Medora Community Schools and at 542 in Crothersville Community Schools during 2012.
Medora was the fourth-smallest Hoosier school district that year. Crothersville was the ninth-smallest.
According to a recently released report from two Ball State University professors, both districts could expect to save money through economies of scale if they merged with a neighboring school district. But both schools are opposed to consolidation.
