(BLOUNT CO., Tenn.) - A small Indiana plane is missing after possibly crashing in Tennessee, just south of Knoxville, in an area near Calderwood Lake.
An alert notice (ALNOT) was issued for a Dehavilland DHC-1 aircraft.
The plane departed from French Lick early Sunday evening with just the pilot on board.
The FAA notified both local authorities and search and rescue officials when the flight did not reach its intended destination, Franklin County Airport in Canon, GA.
The Blount County Sheriff's department conducted a land and air search in the area Sunday night, but they've suspended rescue efforts until 7:30 a.m. Monday.
The flight was flying on Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and not receiving air traffic control service.
