(SALEM) - A Salem man was arrested after a relative reported that the man had battered his wife.
37-year-old Ellis Barrett was arrested Saturday night and remains in jail on a felony battery charge in the presence of a child.
Officers were called to a home on Little York-Scottsburg Road after a report of a battery. When police arrived, Barrett's wife initially denied being injured, but then was transported to the hospital for treatment.
While at St. Vincent Salem Hospital, she told police the she and her husband had got into an argument and he hit her in the head. She also fell and injured her ankle.
Police say a child was present during the fight.
