(SALEM) - A tip to the Salem Police Department resulted in the arrest a Salem man wanted for armed robbery and theft.
Police also found 27-year-old James Lanham had heroin.
On Monday, police armed with a search warrant went to a home in the 300 block of West market Street and arrested Lanham on charges of robbery, burglary and theft. During the search, police also found a hypodermic needle and heroin in the home.
Now Lanham is facing additional charges of possession of a hypodermic needle, and possession of a schedule I substance (heroin) within 1000 feet of a school.
Police received a call on February 28 from an elderly person who lived on West Market Street reporting that he had been robbed at gunpoint. The man claimed a man pushed him down and took several items from his home and fled. The elderly man did suffer minor injuries.
Lanham was taken to the Salem Police Department and interviewed. During that interview, he confessed to the robbery.
