(JUDAH) - Lawrence County police were called to Johnny’s Junction early Sunday morning after an employee reported there was a woman at the business who claimed she had been injured during a battery.
According to Lawrence County Chief Deputy Mike Branham, officers, an IU Health Hospital ambulance and Marshall Volunteer Fire Department first responders went to the gas station.
"When they arrived they found a woman who was intoxicated and was verbally abuse to those there," Branham says. "She was being uncooperative. She did have an injury to her chin and her right ear and blood on her face. She was taken to IU Health Hospital for treatment."
The woman told police she had been at 37 Bar & Grill and had been battered by two men.
"An officer went to the hospital to talk more with the woman and another officer went to the bar," Branham says. "Witnesses at the bar told officers the woman had started a confrontation with another woman and she was asked to leave. Witnesses told officer the woman had no injuries when she left the bar. So it is unclear if she fell leaving the bar or what exactly happened."
At the hospital the woman was still uncooperative with officers and kept changing her story on how she was injured.
"Because of her level of impairment she was not able to give us a statement," Branham says. "We are waiting for her to come in and do that."
