(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County police were alerted after a 13-year-old boy was taken to Indiana University Bedford Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
According to Sheriff Sam Craig, officers were contacted by emergency room workers at 7:53 p.m.
"The incident happened on Back Creek Road," Craig says. "We are still gathering information and should have more information available this afternoon. We do know at this time it was an accidental shooting."
Craig says that officers were told the wound was not serious.
