(LOOGOOTEE) - The Martin County Humane Society will hold its fourth annual dinner and auction Saturday, at Loogootee High School’s cafeteria.
The dinner will of hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, coleslaw, chips, drinks and dessert will costs $5 per person and will be serving from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The live auction will begin at 7 p.m. but all items up for auction will be displayed throughout the dinner for viewing. Noel Harty will serve as auctioneer again this year.
Humane Society President Josh Hughett says proceeds from the auction are used for operation cost, vet care and shelter expenses.
Some items being auctioned are four tickets to Disney World in Orlando, tickets to Holiday World, Kings Island and Kentucky Kingdom, Six Flags, Big Splash Water Park in French Lick and the Indianapolis Zoo.
There are also sports tickets to Indianapolis Colts games, IU men's basketball, Indianapolis Indians, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals, Indiana Ice and the Cincinnati Reds.
Local businesses have also donated items to be auctioned, like gift certificates, paintings and gift baskets.
There are autographed photos or items from Duck Dynasty cast, Indiana University Volleyball Coach Dunbar, Purdue University Men's Basketball Coach Matt Painter, Purdue University Football Coach Darrell Hazell, Indiana Fever, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, and the Chicago Bears, along with an autographed Mutt Comic from creator Patrick McDonnell.
More than 100 items will be up for auction.
The auction will include several other items from local businesses including gift certificates, paintings, and gift baskets. More than 100 items will be up for auction. The new t-shirts, with the 2014 design, will be available for purchase also for $12 each.
The Martin County Humane Society Animal Shelter is located at 507 N. Oak Street in Loogootee. The shelter is open Monday and Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or by appointment another time by calling 812-295-5900 or emailing mchs@frontier.com. The shelter currently has around 35 dogs and cats available for adoption.
