(SALEM) - Beck’s Mill will open for the 2014 season on Friday, April 4.
The mill, located six miles south of Salem, will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays. The last tour of the day starts at 3:15 p.m.
New this year is Tommy Green's Distillery. Green was a friend of the Beck family and made his living as a preacher and creator of "liquid fire" made from the mill's corn remnants.
Green was such a colorful character that one of his helpers wrote a poem about him. You'll have to visit the mill to hear the poem! The historic and renovated mill offers tours, corn milling, hiking trails and a picnic area. For more than 200 years, there has been an operating mill on the site.
Adult admission is $5. Admission is free to children 16 and under with a paid adult admission.
