(BLOOMINGTON) - Two men were injured Tuesday night after the scooter they were riding on was struck from behind by a hit-and-run driver near the intersection of 17th and Maple streets in Bloomington.
According to Bloomington Police, the scooter was heading east on West 17th Street about 9:45 p.m. when the collision occurred.
A witness, who was at the 17th Street Plaza, told police he was getting ready to cross the street when he heard the collision.
The witness told police he saw a maroon sedan hit the scooter and then watched as the bodies of the two men went flying through the air and hit the ground.
Both men were transported by ambulance to IU Health Hospital with serious injuries.
Anyone who with information about the accident or the driver of the SUV is asked to call the Bloomington Police Department.
