(UNDATED) - If gas prices have you clutching your wallet, here’s some promising news.
Gas Buddy Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan says price relief is likely on the way.
DeHaan says come June, the nation should see lower prices at pumps. He says relief usually comes in June when oil refinery maintenance and switch over to cleaner-burning, summer gasoline have been completed.
DeHaan also says supply generally increases during that time when refineries ramp up production.
He says most of the nation should see price relief during mid-June. That's when he says prices should drop into the mid to low three-dollar range.
Currently, Indiana gas prices are a few cents higher than the national average. The average price for regular unleaded in Indy was $3.67 Monday.
DeHaan says prices may rise slightly this week due to a BP oil refinery glitch in Whiting.
He adds now is the time of year when Indiana experiences a roller coaster ride in gas prices.
