(BEDFORD) - March of Dimes Wabash Valley Division invites the Bedford Community to walk together for stronger, healthier babies.
March for Babies is gearing up for Saturday, April 27, 2014 at the Bedford National Guard Armory. Registration starts at 1:00pm, and the walk will begin at 1:30pm.
Hundreds of families and community members will join together in the March of Dimes March for Babies - the nation's oldest walk fundraiser honoring babies born healthy and those who need help to survive and thrive.
Premature birth is the leading cause of infant death, and for those who survive, it can mean a life of chronic health problems or disability.
Today, in Indiana alone, 33 babies will be born too soon. Money raised for March for Babies supports research and programs to find out how to prevent premature birth and to help families who experience it. The results benefit babies here in Indiana and across the nation.
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education and advocacy to save babies, and in 2003 launched a five-year campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth.
