(MITCHELL) - Are you looking for something new to plant in your garden or have a few plants to share with other green thumbs in the area?
The Mitchell Community Public library will be hosting a plant exchange from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 17 in the downstairs meeting room.
For experienced gardeners, plant exchanges provide a way to find good homes for their excess plants and perhaps even find something new and unusual for their own gardens, and it gives new gardeners the opportunity to experiment with plants which have already become acclimated to the soil in Lawrence County.
The plant swap offers an opportunity, not only for members of the community to share the bounty of their gardens, but also for the library to share the bounty of its collection of gardening books, DVDs and magazines.
For those who want to participate, bring only healthy specimens. If you suspect a plant may be bothered by fungus or grubs or other maladies, wait until you have the problem solved before you share that plant
No registration is required to participate. If you don't have any plants to exchange but would still like to participate, the library will be giving away a variety of plants at the event.
