(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana Conservation Officers in operational district 6 will begin increasing patrols around Monroe Reservoir in preparation for the upcoming Little 500 festivities.
Every April, hundreds of young adults travel to Lake Monroe to celebrate Indiana University's Little 500 on or around the water. Indiana Conservation Officers will begin increasing patrols the week leading up to the race on April 26th.
Officers will be patrolling by water and land to ensure that all are celebrating in a safe way. Officers encourage the students to have a good time, but to remember to be safe especially when on the water and leaving the Reservoir and traveling back to campus.
Operational District 6 Lieutenant Tim Beaver stated, "We feel very strongly that an increased officer presence on the Monroe Reservoir property during this time, both on water and land, will ensure the safety of the hundreds of students that converge on the property for recreation."
