(JACKSON CO.) - A six vehicle crash Monday night left six people injured and resulted in the death of a family pet.
According to Indiana StateTrooper Matt Holley, at approximately 6:20 p.m. Monday a 2014 Ford Super Duty Dually pickup truck pulling a trailer was southbound on I-65 at about the 48.5 mile marker when the southbound traffic slowed due to construction. The truck was driven by 47- year-old James P. Joyner of Greensboro, NC.
When Joyner apparently didn't notice traffic was slowed, he struck the rear of a 2011 Infinity driven by 41-year-old Alissa B. Kanwit of Findlay, OH.
The vehicle then continued traveling southbound and struck the rear end of a Nissan passenger car driven by 50-year-old Donnie C. Revell of Union City, TN. The vehicle then struck the rear end of a 2010 Infiniti SUV driven by 47-year-old Ronald Howe of Elkhorn, WI.
It went on to strke the rear end of a 2008 Honda pickup driven by 20-year-old Kayla D. Sticco of Centerville, OH, then came to a stop after striking a 2010 Subaru Forester pulling a trailer driven by 64- year-old William R. Bennington of West Virginia.
Injured during the incident were:
Sticco and Bennington were not injured during the incident.
James P. Joyner was charged with speeding too fast to avoid a collision.
Both lanes of I-65 southbound were closed until about 7:40 p.m. when one lane was opened. Both lanes were re-opened at approximately 8:20.
Trooper Holley was assisted at the scene by other troopers, Seymour Police Department, Jackson County EMS, and Seymour Fire Department.
The crash remains under investigation.
