(SPRINGVILLE) - A Springville man was injured after he crashed his vehicle into a tree Monday.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 36-year-old Michael Kelsey was traveling west on Sieboldt Quarry Road when a deer or another animal ran in front of his 2007 Ford Taurus.
Kelsey swerved to miss the animal and all he says he remembers was the vehicle sliding. The car went off the north side of the road and collided with a tree and then rolled onto its top.
A Seals ambulance and Marshall Volunteer Fire Department first responders responded to the scene.
Kelsey complained of chest pain caused by the seat belt and was taken by ambulance to IU Health Hospital Bloomington for treatment.
He was given a breath test for alcohol, which is standard procedure. The test showed Kelsey had not been drinking.
