(BEDFORD) - Bedford police arrested three people Monday night after they received a call of people taking materials from the rear of Johnny’s Signs.
"Officers were called to the business after a resident witnessed a man and woman taking items from the dumpster and the area behind the business," says Chief Dennis Parsley.
The woman was able to give police a detailed description and officers located the man and woman in the 2900 block of Washington Avenue. The man fled.
"Officers discovered the missing items," Parsley says. "There was a wheel barrow they had taken and other items they had planned to scrapped."
While an officer was talking to 43-year-old Camilla Tucker, another officer was able to locate 24-year-old Martie Barlow.
"Mr. Barlow actually ran right into the middle of the investigation," Parsley says.
Tucker was arrested on a charge of theft. Barlow is facing charges of theft, public intoxication, and resisting arrest by fleeing.
While officers were conducting their investigation a crowd had gathered to watch. When police went to disperse the group, they determined one of the men was wanted on a warrant. Police arrested 49-year-old Robert Kimmel of Bedford on warrants for failure to appear and evading jurisdiction.
All of the stolen items were returned to the business.
