(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he allegedly went to a home armed with a rifle and began making threats.
Sunday night Lawrence County police were called to a home in the 2500 block of Middle Leesville Road after a report of an intoxicated man with a bolt-action rifle had threatened to kill the caller.
When officers arrived the man had left, but according to Sheriff Sam Craig he returned a short time later and was in the caller's yard cursing and threatening the caller.
When police arrived 57-year-old John Roberts had left the home. Craig says officers called Roberts and asked him to meet with them.
"He refused and said he couldn't meet at that time," Craig says. "But officers were able to locate him in the area and made a traffic stop."
Roberts was arrested and is now facing charges of operating a vehicle while never licensed, criminal recklessness with a firearm, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, pointing a loaded firearm.
