(MITCHELL) - Birdhouses are lining the fence that surrounds the softball and baseball fields north of Mitchell High School.
The Fresh Start peer leaders with the aid of freshmen students constructed and painted the birdhouses.
Jeremy Johnson wrote in the school newspaper that the project is not only for the birds, but is an opportunity for peer leaders to bond with freshmen classmates.
The Fresh Start Club has not been active at the high school long, but its goal is to help freshmen meet upperclassmen and to assist them in getting used to their first year of high school.
As Johnson noted, "Everyone needs a guiding hand somewhere along the line."
