(BLOOMFIELD) - 30-year-old Jennifer R. Baker of Bloomfield was arrested Sunday on preliminary charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting law enforcement, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to Bloomfield Police, officers were called to the intersection of East Main Street and North Washington Street at 3 a.m. Sunday after a report of an intoxicated woman walking in front of traffic.
When police arrived they found Baker lying on the sidewalk on the north side of Main Street. Another woman was standing by Baker. She told police that Baker, who she did not know approached her and began yelling at her and attempted to hit her. That is when the woman, had to defend herself.
When police questioned Baker, she told police she wanted to go home and she had a hard time keeping her balance. When asked why she approached the other woman, Baker told police the woman had texted her at the bar several times and wouldn't leave her alone. According to the probable cause affidavit, when police asked what the other woman's name was, Baker gave an incorrect name.
Baker was arrested and then began yelling at police and jail officers and had to be had to be placed in a restraint chair, since she refused to stay seated. After Baker was restrained, police searched her purse and found a glass smoking pipe that smelled of marijuana.
