Farmers' Markets Bustling With Activity

(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Farmers’ Market is accepting applications for new vendors and any musicians interested in performing during the event.

Among the market wares are cinnamon rolls at Leann Daniel's booth, along with lots of homemade jams and jellies. At Black Oak Kitchen and Gardens booth, Jill Vance features fresh herb bunches and jams made using herbs from her garden. Jams were also to be found at Matt Faust's booth.

This Saturday, Kari Littrell of St. Vincent Dunn Hospital will present a food demonstration. She will be at the market every other Saturday, serving healthy food samples, and passing out recipes.

This weekend is also the Art Gallery walk.

The market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday on the west side of the courthouse square.

Orleans

This week you can expect from the farms and gardens: Beets, flower and plant starts, lettuce, green onions, dried peppers, radishes, rhubarb, sugar snap peas, strawberries, green tomatoes, beef, pork, chicken and fresh eggs.

From the home kitchens: Pies, coffee cakes, cookies, cobblers, brownies, quick breads, salt rising breads, yeast breads, yeast rolls, jam, jelly, turnovers, scones, cinnamon rolls, peanut brittle, pork rinds, cup cakes, syrups (shag bark hickory, maple, peach, strawberry, blackberry) and more.

From the craft folks: Bird houses, bird feeders, jewelry, knitted and crochet items, leather goods, hand bags, soaps, lotions, stationary, tote bags, puppets, wind chimes, aprons, dolls, quilts, gallery glass art, signs, wallets, dog collars, hair bows, scarves, hats, candles, Amish baskets, tooth fairy pillows, rustic furniture, painted art items, scrubbies, cloth teething rings, baby lotions, homemade laundry soaps and many more goodies.

This week's "Family Friendly" event is a visit from The Local Growers Guild.

The Orleans Farmers' Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon each Saturday on Congress Square in Orleans.
The market accepts WIC checks and Hoosier Works SNAP cards. Visit the Host Tent for details.

French Lick

The French Lick Market is next to the French Lick Scenic Railway each Tuesday from 1:30-5 p.m.

Stop by the Visit French Lick West Baden visitor center for up to the minute things to do, places to stay and great places to eat.

Paoli

The Thursday Market starts June 5 in the front parking area of the Paoli Wal-Mart hours will be from 2-6 p.m.
