(MITCHELL) - A Mitchell man was arrested Thursday morning on a warrant for possession of child pornography.
The Indiana State Police detectives with the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit served the warrant at 9:44 a.m.
According to ISP Detective Kevin Getz, officers received a tip on March 24 from the cyber tip line of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children 33-year-old Joshua Shane Carter was using his personal e-mail account to download and view child pornography. During the investigation, police discovered Carter had downloaded and viewed less than 100 images of prepubescent children engaged in various sex acts.
He was arrested without incident on one Class D felony count of possession of child pornography.
ISP Internet Crimes Against Children Unit Detectives Sergeant Marty Metzger and Sergeant Chris Cecil, as well as the Lawrence County Prosecutor's Office.
