(MONROE LAKE) - Due to high water, beaches at Monroe Lake will not open on Memorial Day weekend.
Recent rains and river levels downstream have forced the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to restrict the outflow at the dam, resulting in high water at Monroe Lake.
These conditions will not change before the holiday weekend. Monroe Lake beaches, which are at Fairfax and Paynetown state recreation areas, will remain closed.
All boat ramps are currently still open at the lake.
