Police Investigating Man Found With Possible Knife And Gun Shot Wounds

(NORMAN) - Authorities in Jackson County are trying to find out how a man suffered possible knife and gunshot wounds Monday night.

At 11:43 p.m., the Lawrence County Police received a call for about a traffic accident with possible injuries in a field at Hickory Grove and Bob Young roads.

An Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital ambulance, the Bedford Fire Department extrication unit and first responders from Pleasant Run Township Volunteer Fire Department responded.

A short time later they notified dispatch that there was an injured man but he was found a short distance from the vehicle and the man had suffered a knife and gunshot wound. The man was taken to Bloomington Hospital for treatment

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig says events leading up to the call occurred in Jackson County, where authorities are investigating.

Jackson County Sheriff Michael Carothers says officers this morning werestill investigating the incident and more information would be available later this afternoon.

"We know there was an accident the driver did go off the road and hit a tree," he added. "But we are still working the case. The 41-year-old Norman man did not suffer life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from the hospital."
