(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington man wanted on a warrant charging him with attempted murder in connection with last week’s drive-by shooting in the Crestmont neighborhood has turned himself in to police.
26-year-old Timothy Brian Helton was booked into the Monroe County Jail at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday. He is being held without bond because of the felony attempted murder charge and a parole violation.
Helton is accused of firing more than six rounds at a man named "Chevy". Also arrested was 27-year-old Joshua Phillips, of Bedford. He is facing a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.
According to police, witnesses in 1300 block of West 12th Street reported seeing two different vehicles speed away after the shots were fired - a blue Ford Ranger and a light-colored passenger car and that the driver of the truck was named Josh.
Police determined six shots were fired from the Ford Ranger. The shots were intended to harm a Hispanic man known as "Chevy." Witnesses saw the man and a woman running from the scene. No one was injured during the incident.
Phillips was arrested early Monday morning after they received a tip Phillips was in the 1300 block of West 12th Street.
