(ELLETTSVILLE) - Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on Ind. 46 near Flatwoods Road, northwest of Ellettsville.
Traffic in both lane of Ind. 46 was stopped for about three hours as officers worked the crash reported at 3:12 p.m. By 5:30 p.m., traffic headed west on Ind. 46 had backed up three miles to Sale Street in Ellettsville.
According to police, a red Chevrolet Blazer flipped onto its top near the side of the road in the 8300 block of Ind. 46 and the driver's side door and a back tire were ripped off the SUV. A tan Chrysler Town and County van sustained heavy front end damage on the driver's side and both airbags deployed.
According to Monroe County Police Department Chief Deputy Mike Pershing, 44-year-old Nikki Owings and a 13-year-old girl, who were in the Blazer, were taken by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Larry Neal, the driver of the van, suffered injuries and was transported by ambulance to IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
The accident remains under investigation and no other information was available this morning.
Ellettsville firefighters and police officers assisted at the scene.
