(BEDFORD) - BBQ at the Quarry is returning to the downtown square.
And potential participants in the annual cooking competition - beware - defending champion Dangerous Dave Bradford is looking at claiming the BBQ title. The event is slated for June 27 and 28.
Greg Morris, who helped formulate the fest nearly five years ago and will orchestrate operations this summer, says the event will be the same format as in the past, but Celebrations Southern Indiana is planning on setting up a mechanical bull. Morris says the customary concerts in Harp Commons, currently under renovation, will feature Grainfed and Larry Summerton and the Summertime Band Friday night, followed by Zeke's Bones and Denson Avenue on Saturday.
The cooking contest features four categories: chicken, pulled pork, pork ribs and brisket. Contestants must compete in all four divisions to qualify for grand champion distinction, claimed by Bradford in 2013.
Monetary amounts of $250, $150 and $100 are awarded to the top three finishers in each category. The early entry fee is $50.
