(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he broke a window and damaged a door at Southland Church of Christ Saturday and then ran from police.
Officers were called to the church after a witness, saw 30-year-old Matthew Ross break the window.
According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley when officers arrived they spotted Ross in the 1500 block of Sanders Lane and Ross took off running into the woods.
Officers called for a K-9 that tracked Ross to a cliff area in the woods, but then determined it was too dangerous to allow the dog to continue to track Ross.
Officers continued their search and were notified that a witness had spotted Ross exit the woods in the 3100 block of Ted Jones Drive and enter an apartment.
Officers located Ross inside the apartment. He was then taken to IU Health Hospital for a medical evaluation and then to jail on charges of resisting arrest by fleeing and criminal mischief.
Witnesses told police Ross broke the window, not to break into the church, but because he was mad at his girlfriend.
