(BEDFORD) - The American Red Cross and the Bedford Fire Department is trying to avert a summer shortage of blood supplies.
The organization is urging Hoosiers with types O negative, B negative and A negative to donate blood Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m., during the Bedford Fire Department blood drive honoring fallen firefighters at the department's headquarters at 1900 H St.
Schedule an appointment by calling (800) RED CROSS or visiting redcrossblood.org and entering the sponsor code 0245904.
They say the Red Cross must collect 15,000 donations every day to meet the needs of some 2700 hospitals and medical centers across the nation.
